BILLINGTON & LANGHO COMMUNITY CENTRE

STANDARD CONDITIONS OF HIRE

  1. AT THE END of the hiring, the HIRER shall be responsible for leaving the premises and surrounds in a clean and tidy condition with all rubbish removed, properly locked and secured unless directed otherwise and any contents temporarily removed from their usual positions properly replaced, otherwise the Committee shall be at liberty to make an additional charge
  2. THE HALL offers basic kitchen facilities for serving hot and cold refreshments.  Additional kitchen appliances may only be used if Portable Appliance Tested (PAT) within the past 12 months AND UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHALL A DEEP FAT FRYER BE USED
  3. THE HIRER shall ensure that any other electrical appliances, for example iPOD docking stations or CD Players, brought by them to the premises and used there shall be safe and in good working order, asproven by up to date PAT testing carried out by a qualified person, and used in a safe manner and subject to performance laws (see 5 below)
  4. THE HIRER shall be responsible for obtaining such licences as may be needed whether for the sale or supply of intoxicating liquor, from the Performing Rights Society, from the Phonographic Performance Ltd or otherwise and for observance of the same
  5. THE HIRER shall ensure that nothing is done on or in relation to the premises in contravention of the law related to gaming, betting and lotteries
  6. THE HIRER shall comply with all conditions and regulations made in respect of the premises by the Fire Authority, Local Authority, the Local Magistrates' Court or otherwise, particularly in connection with any event that includes public dancing or music or other similar public entertainment or stage plays
  7. THE HIRER shall not use the premises for any purpose other  than that described in the hiring agreement and shall not sub-hire or use the premises or allow the premises to be used for any unlawful purposes or in any unlawful way nor do anything or bring onto the premises anything which may endanger the same or render invalid any insurance policies in respect thereof nor allow the consumption of alcoholic liquor thereon without written permission/licence
  8. THE HIRER will, during the period of hiring, be responsible for supervision of the whole premises, their care, safety from damage however slight or change of any sort and the behaviour of all persons using the premises whatever their capacity, including the supervision of car parking arrangements so as to avoid obstruction of the highway. The Association reserves the right to require a special deposit against the possibility of such damage. This will be refunded less the cost of repair or will be credited against the cost should it exceed the amount of the deposit
  9. THE HIRER shall not alter in any way the fabric and contents of the premises, nor fasten any fixtures or fittings to the fabric of the premises nor apply any substances to the floor and shall indemnify the committee for the cost of repair or replacement of any damage done to any part of the property including the curtilage thereof or the contents of the premises which may occur during the period of hiring as a result of the hiring
  10. IF THE HIRER wishes to cancel the booking before the date of the event and the Committee is unable to make a replacement booking, the question of payment or repayment of the fee shall be at the discretion of the Committee
  11. THE HIRER shall ensure that the minimum of noise is made on arrival and departure
  12. THE HIRER shall ensure that no animals, except guide dogs, are brought into the premises
  13. THE COMMITTEE reserves the right to cancel this hiring in the event of the hall being required for use as a Polling Station for Parliamentary or Local Government elections or by-election, or other emergency event, in which case the Hirer shall be entitled to a refund of any deposit already paid
  14. IN THE EVENT of the premises or any part thereof being rendered unfit for the use for which it is being hired, the committee shall not be liable to the HIRER for any resulting loss or damage whatsoever
  15. THE LETTING of the premises is entirely at the discretion of the Management Committee of the Billington & Langho Community Association
  16. THE HIRER will comply with all reasonable requests (if any) made by the caretaker of the premises
  17. If it is necessary to make keys to the premises available to THE HIRER then such keys maybe made available only shortly before the hiring period on the day of such hiring and must be returned by THE HIRER immediately after the completion of the event
  18. THE HIRER will not part with the keys to the premises to any third party nor will they copy the same
  19. No smoking is allowed inside the building or in the outside area with soft flooring
  20. AT THE CONCLUSION of the event, THE HIRER will carry out an inspection of the premises including that all exits are secured to ensure that the premises are safe to be left unattended and that all internal lights have been switched off

For the purposes of these conditions, the term HIRER shall mean an individual hirer or, where the hirer is an organisation, the authorised representative.
